A smartphone is an advanced mobile device that runs and operates on a mobile operating system. Some of the most popular and widely used mobile operating systems include Android, iOS, and Blackberry OS.
Modern smartphones include the use of touch screen, music players, digital cameras, video cameras, web browsers that enable high-speed data access, and many mobile apps. Although most all smartphones have all of these characteristics, there are still many variations from one smartphone to another.
Demand for smartphone devices is very high and rising day by day as it is a highly reliable and portable on -the-go form of high-end technology. People are moving in towards smartphones and almost completely phasing out of classic and feature cellular phones.
One product that comes close to as that of a smartphone is a tablet PC. A tablet PC is a personal computer in a touchscreen or pen-enabled interface tablet version that runs on a special touch interface operating system. Both have similarities yet are very different.
Both tablet PC's and smartphones both have touch interfaces that can also make use of pen-enabled interfaces. Both are capable of music players, digital cameras, video cameras, web browsers, and make use of mobile apps. The layout for both is very similar, especially when they are products from the same company such as a Samsung Galaxy Note II and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.
The main difference between the two is that the smartphone is a mobile device for which the primary purpose is to make phone calls whereas a tablet is a portable computer device for which the primary purpose is office work and web browsing. A tablet PC's screen is much bigger than that of a smartphone. However, a smartphone still tends to do more even in such a small size because the size is more portable when it comes to handling. A big plus point for smartphones is that compared to other high-end portable devices, including tablet PC's, they are very light. When it comes to pricing, smartphones can be more expensive.
